Social activist and filmmaker Resham Jung Shah registered his candidacy for the post of Secretary of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) in New York. Shah, who earlier was involved in service-oriented work in various communities through an organization known as ‘Thakuri Sahayog Sanjal‘, is also an agricultural worker and film worker by profession.
His family who arrived in United States on a family immigrant visa earlier in 2018, are residing in Florida while Shah has been living in New York city looking for huge Nepalese settlement. Despite being a candidate for the post of president, Shah has given his candidature for the post of secretary for the term of 2021-2023 due to the mandatory rule of serving in any post as per the constitution of the NRNA.
Resham Jung Shah also the chairman of the Thakuri Sahayog Sanjal,has worked as a project head in various districts of Nepal on UNDP’s HIV control and prevention project. Even during the time of earthquake of 2072 B.S, Shah played a leading role in relief, rescue and rehabilitation works.
In districts including Gorkha, Lamjung, Tanahu and Nuwakot, immediate relief supplies were provided to the earthquake victims under Shah’s leadership. He is also the chief operator of the Agriculture and Livestock Farm in Nepal.
Shah, who has just settled in the United States further plans to make a Nepali tele-serial in the United States to preserve Nepalese art & culture. He While in Nepal, he worked in Asusen Films with producer/director Santosh Sen in series of Prem-geet and worked as an executive producer and market managers in films including Chankhe Shankhe Pankhe and Meri Mamu.
Resham Jung Shah is on the verge of entering the decisive level of the NRNA with new plans and he is looked upon with hope by Nepalese around the world. In general, he has the ability to speak against the perversion of the federation.
